Ars Transmutatoria Primati Primi is the second of two sessions featuring a series of new scores. They differ from the previous Ars Transmutatoria visual compositions in that they all have a similar thematic construction. The images feature scenes with zoomorphic creatures, ancient or hybrid at their centre. In this Rome session, through improvisation, we created the music and gave life to the frozen moments in the separate stories of Primati Primi, Primatomorphisme Premier, the first primate in a metamorphosis state, the oriphant, an elephant moose chasing a small devilish creature, la grue, a big ostrich- like bird equipped with a luminous membrane, l'hyène aveuglée with her palmed feet, a ray with a sharp beak capturing a prey, the bull who contracted chicken pox from a prehistoric winged centipede, four céphalopodes hybrides searching for food in the depths of the earth, and the charançon argenté, looking at a beautiful blue ant. Interspersed with these creatures are stories of the energy of place, the dog on the road, the grappa on the tarmac and our joy at making music together at the tail end of the pandemic.
